Ncell pays Rs. 1.2 b as 3G spectrum fee
Ncell has cleared Rs. 1.20 billion it owed to the government as third generation (3G) spectrum fee and outstanding dues for the last five fiscal years 2007-2012.
Similarly, the company also paid Rs. 240 million in advance for the same on Tuesday for the current fiscal year.
As per the Telecommunications Radio Frequency Distribution and Pricing Policy 2012, the Nepal Telecom (NT) and Ncell have to pay Rs. 240 million yearly for using 2X10 MHz 3G frequency to Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA).
However, NT has paid only Rs. 488 million of the total Rs. 1.44 billion outstanding dues from the period of 2006-12.
NT is reluctant to pay the dues saying that the service was launched commercially to the general public only from 2010. nepalnews.com
