13 Bangladeshi nationals arrested with fake Nepali passports
Police on Thursday arrested 13 Bangladeshi nationals with fake Nepali passports.
The Bangladeshi nationals were arrested at Tribhuvan International Airport before boarding a flight to Saudi Arabia by producing fake Machine Readable passports issued from Sarlahi district in 2012, according to media reports.
Police said they have received information that 12 Bangladeshi nationals have already flown to Saudi Arabia with fake Nepali MRP passports. Since the past few years, increasing numbers of Bangladeshi national have been found procuring fake Nepali citizenship certificate and passport from Bangladeshi agents to fly abroad for employment. They usually pay about Rs 4 lakh for the fake documents in order to go for foreign employment as a Nepali national.
On May 26, 2010, police nabbed Mohhamad Saibuddin, believed to be the kingpin of the racket bringing Bangladeshi nationals to Nepal, along with 12 Bangladeshi nationals following raids in various parts of the city.
Top immigration officials are also found to have been providing safe passage to hundreds of Bangladeshis trafficked to other countries, particularly in the Gulf, under fake Nepali identities. Nepalnews.com
