Four-party parley to continue today

Top leaders of the four major political forces - UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, UML and Madhesi Front - are to meet Friday afternoon in a bid to finalise the draft on forming an election government headed by the Chief Justice.

The meeting is to dwell on three points of contention - voter list, ranks for the combatants integrated into the Nepal Army and formation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. In the previous meeting, the top leaders of the four parties had agreed to form a government under the CJ to hold the elections in the first week of June, but differed on the three issues.

Additionally, they will discuss a revision of the text of the draft so as to convinces CJ Khil Raj Regmi to accept the offer. Regmi, who was approached by the top leaders on Wednesday, is yet to accept the offer officially and has asked them to remove constitutional hurdles apart from guaranteeing that all the parties cooperate the proposed government to conduct the polls.
