European diplomats urge CPN-M to take part in upcoming polls

Ambassadors of some European countries met CPN-Maoist leaders on Friday, suggesting them not to boycott the proposed Constituent Assembly elections.

Ambassadors of the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Norway, Denmark, Switzerland and Finland went to the CPN-M central office in Buddhanagar and expressed their concern over statements of party leaders that they would boycott the upcoming elections. According to CPN-M spokesperson Pampha Bhusal, the ambassadors suggested that the party take part in the polls.

She said that the party was firm in its stance that the current deadlock should be resolved through a round-table conference and assured the ambassadors that the party would not take up arms again.

Party's vice chairman CP Gajurel, general secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa were among those present in the interaction. Nepalnews.com
