Nepal Bar stands against bid to form govt under CJ
Nepal Bar Association (NBA) has warned of resorting to agitation if the major political forces do not back track on their proposal to form a transitional government under the Chief Justice.
Bar office bearers, who met leaders of UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and United Democratic Madhesi Front on Friday, said the proposal was not acceptable at it would disturb the way state powers are distributed among the various organs of the state.
"We clearly told the prime minister and the party leaders that the bar cannot accept any proposal to form a government under the sitting Chief Justice. Such a move would be against the spirit of constitutionalism and the principle of separation of power," said NBA General Secretary Sunil Pokharel.
He warned that NBA members across the country will take to the streets if the CJ is given an executive job. nepalnews.com
