Load-shedding hrs may go up due to technical problems in country’s biggest hydropower project
The current load-shedding hours in the country is likely to go up as the biggest hydropower project of Nepal, the Kaligandaki ‘A’, is suffering from technical problems.
The 144 megawatt hydropower project located in Krishnagandaki VDC-8 of Syangja district will remain closed for at least 10 days for carrying out maintenance works in its turbine as well as inlet valve of the dam which has seen water leakage problems for the last few days.
Reports quoted Abadesh Kumar Jha, Kaligandaki project chief, as saying that the operation of the Kaligandaki ‘A’ will be shut for at least 10
days affecting the total power generation in the country. This may cause increase in load-shedding hours in the days to come, according to him. nepalnews.com
