Election council under Prez, Vice Prez could be the best alternative: NC leader
At a time when plans of the political parties to form a Chief Justice-led election government is beginning to look increasingly impossible, a leader of Nepali Congress has said that going to the polls by forming an election council under the leadership of the President or the Vice President would be the best option at the moment.
NC spokesperson Arjun Narsingh KC on Sunday that an election government can be formed under the leadership of a distinguished figure of the civil society who has made important contribution to the democratic movement in the country if parties fail to form the CJ-led government.
“But if that doesn’t happen then an election government should be formed under either the President or the Vice President,” KC said while speaking at a program organised at Reporters’ Club in the capital.
Referring to the plans of the political parties to form a CJ-led government, he, however, said that the “independent judiciary” would be a thing of the past if the same person heads both the executive and the judiciary. KC said that an election government led by one of the political parties or a coalition of parties was still the best alternative to give a way out to the crisis facing the country. Nepalnews.com |
