A Nepali climber has become the first woman to scale Mt Everest twice in a single season, the Guinness World Records said on Monday.
Chhirim Sherpa (29) reached the 8,848-metre peak on May 12 last year before returning to base camp for rest and then repeating the feat seven days later.
"Climbing Everest is very difficult for women as there are no toilets. Five of us had to share a tent," she told the media at a ceremony in Kathmandu to hand her the official record certificate. nepalnews.com
