Bombs planted by new 'Maoist outfit' defused in Butwal, Biratnagar and Banke
Security personnel have defused bombs allegedly planted by a little known communist outfit 'CPN Maoist (Revolutionary)' in Butwal, Biratnagar and a small town in Banke district on Tuesday.
A bomb wrapped in a plastic bag was found at Pushpa Lal Park in Butwan Municipality-8 at around 7 am, causing terror in the area for hours. A bomb disposal team from the Nepal Army's Bhawani Bax Battalion defused the improvised explosive device (IED) three hours later, local reports said.
Police said they found leaflets of CPN-Maoist (Revolutionary) from the scene, claiming responsibility for the bomb scare. They said they were yet to independently verify the group's involvement and the motives.
Meanwhile, the army destroyed an IED allegedly planted by the same group Biratnagar-Jogbani road section in Morang this morning. Likewise, a pressure cooker bomb was defused by the army Rangeela Chowk in Bankatuwa VDC in Banke district.
According to local police, leaflets of the CPN-Maoist (Revolutionary) were found there, too. Nepalnews.com
