Diplomatic agencies seek safety of nationals visiting Nepal
Various foreign embassies have sought safety to their nationals visiting Nepal during natural disasters including earthquake along with preparedness for rescue.
During an interaction jointly organised by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Himalayan Rescue Association Nepal (HRAN) on 'Tourism Crisis and Building Partnership' in Kathmandu on Wednesday, representatives of the diplomatic agencies urged the NTB to take initiative to mitigate these issues faced by tourists visiting Nepal.
The interaction was organised with an objective to facilitate dialogue on tourism crisis between the government agencies, diplomatic agencies and private sector to resolve the problems.
Addressing the programme, officiating CEO of NTB Subash Nirola said that this was the right time to have such interaction with stakeholders as the goal is to ensure the safety and security of the tourists coming to Nepal, according to NTB.
Similarly, chairman of HRAN Shanta Subba outlined the efforts made by Himalayan Rescue Association in rescue operation.
NTB director Aditya Baral underlined the need for active role from the private sector to address the tourism-related problems as they are the ultimate beneficiary of tourism.
The interaction was attended by senior officials of embassies of Australia, US, Switzerland, France, China, Israel, Russia, Denmark, Finland, Canada, Consulate of New Zealand and other high government officials from Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and Home, Police and Armed Police, Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal among others.
