Dailekh fall out: CDO summoned, probe panel formed

Ministry of Home Affairs has summoned Dailekh CDO Umesh Dhakal to the capital a day after at least 50 people were injured in clashes between Maoist cadres and opposition sympathisers in the district headquarters. It has also formed a committee to probe into the incident.

MoHA Spokesperson Shanker Koirala said Dhakal has been summoned to Kathmandu and his replacement named.

The four-member probe committee, headed by MoHA Joint Secretary Laxmi Prastad Dhakal has been told to submit its report within seven days, the ministry said in a statement.

Earlier today, the government had summoned three police officials in the district to explain lapses in security for PM Baburam Bhattarai and other top Maoist leaders. nepalnews.com
