FM Pun stresses on better cooperation between donors, govt
Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun has stressed the need for better cooperation between donor agencies and the government.
Speaking at a programme 'Nepal Portfolio Performance Review' organised by the Finance Ministry to review the status of donor-funded projects in Nepal in the capital on Thursday, the FM Pun said Nepal needs huge amount of money for development of infrastructure and foreign assistance is important for the country.
On the occasion, the donor agencies’ representatives expressed dissatisfaction over the government failure regarding the effective implementation of the foreign assistance for development.
Tahseen Sayed, country manager of World Bank, speaking on behalf of the development partners said there is an urgent need to significantly improve budget planning and execution in order to maximise development results.
Frequent posting and transfer of officials in major ministries has hindered the progress of development projects, said he.
Similarly, Sayed also said underlined the need for transparency of the foreign assistance between the government and development partners. Nepalnews.com
