British assistance of Rs. 2.32 b to promote agriculture in rural area
The two British organisations, Department for International Development (DFID) and Adam Smith International Nepal have provided a grant assistance of Rs. 2.32 billion to promote agricultural sector in Nepal.
An agreement to this effect was signed between the government and representatives of the British donors in capital on Friday in the presence of Minister for Industry Anil Kumar Jha.
As per the agreement, the assistance will be mobilised through the Nepal Market Development Project for capacity enhancement and creating job opportunities to some 300,000 rural agro entrepreneurs along with the target of poverty alleviation for the period of five years.
The projects will be coordinated through Cottage and Small Industry Development Committee and Industrial Entrepreneurship Development Foundation in all the districts. Nepalnews.com
