Ready to deploy one police for one journo: Minister Gachhadar

Minister for Home Affairs Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar has said the government is ready to deploy one police personnel for one journalist in Dailekh, if they demand security.

Talking to a delegation of the Federation of Nepali Journalists in the Capital few hours after around two dozen journalists were displaced due to Maoist threats, the minister said the mediapersons should have sought help from the local administration.

"The mediapersons concerned neither informed me nor the administration. I am ready to take action against any one who threatens journalists," added Gachhadar.

Altogether 19 local journalists and district correspondents had left the district Thursday night and reached Surkhet after YCL cadres threatened them that they will also meet the fate similar to journalist Dekendra Thapa, who was buried alive by Maoist cadres during the insurgency. Nepalnews.com
