Three injured as oppn cadres, police clash in Bhaktapur
At least three people were injured as supporters of the opposition and riot police clashed in Bhaktapur on Saturday morning.
The clash took place at Sallaghari, Bhaktapur as police personnel used force to disperse protesters, state television reported.
Political parties in the opposition had announced that they will bar UCPN-M Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai from entering Bhaktapur today as they are set to go to the ancient city to participate in the party's local convention.
UCPN-M Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai are to go to Bhaktapur to inaugurate the fifth district conference of the party on Saturday.
The opposition parties had launched their anti-government protests from Dailekh last week. They are demanding that Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai put in his papers at the earliest to pave the way for fresh elections. More than four dozen people were injured on Wednesday as opposition sympathisers and Maoist cadres clashed in Dailekh during the Dailekh district convention of the ruling party.
