Security heightened in Baitadi ahead of embattled PM Bhattarai and Maoist leader's scheduled visit

Security has been beefed up in Baitadi district to oversee the security arrangements for Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai and other leaders of UCPN (Maoist) who are arriving in the district today to participate in the district convention of the ruling party.

The authorities deployed security personnel to avert any untoward incident during PM Bhattarai and Maoist leaders’s trip in the district where opposition parties have imposed a day-long bandh to protest the government’s mishandling of Dailekh incident, said Chief District Officer Janakraj Regmi

Including PM Bhattarai, who is also the vice chairman of the Maoist party, Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, vice chairman Narayan Kazi Shrestha (also Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister) and senior leaders of the party are arriving in Baitadi today to take part in the party’s district convention.
