Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai went to the Supreme Court on Monday and furnished a written clarification on the allegations of trying to obstruct the investigation into the murder of journalist Dekendra Thapa of Dailekh.
PM Bhattarai furnished the clarification as ordered by SC on January 17. In his written note, PM Bhattarai claimed that he had not given any order to halt the murder probe and that the allegation of contempt of court was unfounded.
In response to a writ petition, the SC had asked PM Bhattarai and Attorney General Mukti Pradhan to appear before the court with written clarification within a week. Attorney General Pradhan had furnished his explanation on Sunday.
In a separate ruling earlier, the apex court had ordered the AG's Office and other authorities not to interfere in the investigation, stating that the murder-accused can be tried under the existing laws. Nepalnews.com
