Reactionary forces out to 'finish' party: UCPN (M) chief
UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that reactionary forces have been bent on 'finishing' off the party, but have not succeeded in doing so.
Speaking at the UCPN (M) Ramechhap District Convention in Manthali, Dahal said it was a huge mistake on the part of Maoist leaders to split the party into two, local radio reported.
"The reactionary forces tried to annihilate the party by killing its leaders during the conflict. Similarly, during the Constituent Assembly Elections, they tried to cut the party to size. But they never succeeded," said Dahal, calling on those who left the party to return.
Dahal said that his party was ready to accept any one as Prime Minister of a government of national unity, if political parties forge a package deal to resolve the political crisis.
The UCPN (M) party has been holding district conventions as a build up to its national convention, which is to start in a few days. Prime Minister and party vice-chairman Baburam Bhattarai and vice-chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha had been accompanying Dahal to various district conventions in the past few days. However, they did not accompany Dahal to Manthali today. Nepalnews.com
