Nepali eves crash out of ACC championship

Nepal have lost by seven wickets against host Thailand in the semi-final of the ongoing ACC Women’s Championship held at Prem Oval in Chiang Mai on Wednesday.

Electing to bat first, Nepal were restricted to meager 38 runs in 20 overs as Thailand’s bowler Chanida Sutthiruang alone grabbed five wickets. Sita Magar scored seven runs for Nepal, the highest individual score for Nepal in the match.

While chasing the target, Thailand easily met the target in 16 overs losing three wickets as Pundarika Prathanmitr contributed 18 runs. Rubina Chhetry took two wickets for Nepal.

With the win, Thailand have advanced to the final of the Championship while Nepal hopes for the Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifier to be held in Ireland in August fizzled with today’s defeat. Nepalnews.com
