NSU cadres stage sit-in at NC central office

A group of Nepal Student Union (NSU) cadres staged dharna (sit-in) at the Nepali Congress headquarters in Sanepa demanding that the NC leadership fix the date for NSU general convention at the earliest.

The agitating NSU cadres complained that the party leadership had not shown interest in setting the general convention date despite repeated requests. They also said that the party should create a favourable atmosphere to conduct the conventions in the districts and the campuses as per NSU's constitution.

The NSU cadres also warned of stringent protest programmes if the party failed to take quick decision on this.

Earlier, party president Sushil Koirala had formed an hoc committee which would function until the general convention of the student wing, but the Sher Bahadur Deuba faction of the Union had opposed the composition of the new committee for not getting fewer seats. nepalnews.com
