Kaligandaki ‘A’ closing for maintenance, but power outage won't exceed 12 hrs
The Kaligandaki ‘A’ is closing down for the maintenance works from Friday night. However, the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) said power outage will not exceed the existing12 hours a day.
During the maintenance, the power plant is prepared to run in a full capacity in order to control load-shedding hours, according to NEA.
The 144 MW hydropower project located in Krishnagandaki VDC-8 of Syangja district will remain closed for at least 10 days for maintenance works in its turbine as well as inlet valve of the dam due to water leakage problems.
The 144 MW Kaliganki 'A', which is the biggest hydropower plant currently operational in the country, has been generating only around 60 MW electricity due to technical problems as the valve has not been repaired for the past eight years. nepalnews.com
