Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai |
Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai said on Friday that the country will plunge into a political turmoil if Constituent Assembly elections are not held by mid-June.
While releasing a book on his father-in-law, the late Dharma Bhakta Yami, who was a pro-democracy political figure, PM Bhattarai said that the parties need to arrive at an understanding within a few few days to form a government headed by the Chief Justice if elections are to be held by mid-July.
"Elections will not be held if parties fail to reach consensus in the next few days," Bhattarai said.
"Fresh CA are a must in order to safeguard the achievements made through political struggles," he further said, "Parties should not stick to minor issues, creating obstacle in the process [to form CJ-led govt]."
