Stock market makes slight gain
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index increased by 4.01 points to settle at 542.34 points on Thursday from Sunday’s 538.33 points. The market index had plunged by 11.83 points over the previous week.
As per the sub-indices, hydropower gained 27.38 points, insurance 8.46 points, commercial banks 5.21 points and development banks 2.81 points. However, hotel group lost 25.14 points, trading 2.96 points, finance 0.20 points and manufacturing 0.10 points.
Over the week, the secondary market registered a turnover of Rs. 581.9 million through 6647 transaction with 119 companies. The transaction amount has declined by 6.47 percent as the market had registered turnover of Rs. 622.2 million through 5230 transaction with 113 companies.
Nepal Bangladesh Bank (Rs. 123.95 million), Blobal IME Bank (Rs. 47.97 million), Bank of Kathmandu (Rs. 46.65 million), Everest Bank (Rs. 46.18 million) and Chilime Hydropower Company (Rs. 29.38 million) were the top five companies to hold highest transaction. nepalnews.com
