Devil still lies in the details, say top leaders
Leaders of four major political forces, who agreed in principle to form a government under the Chief Justice more than two weeks ago, have yet again failed to finalise the details of a package deal to put the idea to work.
UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) leaders met at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Sunday evening, but could not reconcile differences on issues such as forming a truth commission and determining the ranks of former PLA fighters, who are now part of the Nepal Army.
Chairman of Terai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) Mahantha Thakur informed reporters after the meeting, that top leaders discussed issues relating to the formation of a truth commission, distribution of citizenship certificates and updating of voters´ list. "But we are yet to reach any conclusion," he added.
The Madhesi leader said parties were confident that all issues would be settled by Tuesday. nepalnews.com
