15 members of wedding procession killed, 25 hurt in Palpa bus accident

Fifteen people were killed and 25 people injured after a bus carrying members of a wedding procession veered off the road near Chidipani Palpa, along the Sidddhartha higway, late on Sunday night.

According to police, the bus ( Lu 1 Kha 27 97) fell off 450 metres at around 9 pm. Eight of the deceased are men and seven are women, said regional police office, Butwal.

It said that 12 people, including the bus driver, breathed their last while being rushed to the hospital while three of them died while receiving treatment at Lumbini Medical College. Sixteen of the injured, including the bride (Bishnu Chardi) and the groom (Kesh Bahadur Chardi), are receiving treatment at Palpa Mission Hospital.

Others have been rushed to Parbas Medical College, police said. nepalnews.com
