5.4-mag quake jolts mid-western Nepal; Tremors felt in Pokhara, Butwal
An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter hit the mid-western region at 10.34 pm Wednesday, the National Seismological Centre said.
The centre said the temblor's epcientre was in Rukum. However a report from the US Geological Survey said it was around the Salyan District Headquarters.
At least two dozen people sustained 'minor injuries' as people rushed out of their houses in the District Headqaurters Musikot, said local officials.
District police office Rukum said there were no reports of casualties. It said that one of the building Salle Airport in Musikot was partly damaged during the quake.
Residents living as far as Pokhara and Butwal also said they witnessed the quake's tremors. A Pokhara local reported that people ran out of their houses in one locality due to the quake, which lasted for around 5 seconds. nepalnews.com
