Another bandh chokes nation

A second consecutive bandh (shutdown) - called by a separate group to protest the preparations to install a Chief Justice-led election government - has thrown normal life out of gear across Nepal on Thursday.

A van carrying medical oxygen becomes target of bandh organisers at Thapathali, Kathmandu, Thursday, 07 March 2013. The Federal Democratic Front organised the bandh to protest the four major parties' plan to form election government headed by the Chief Justice. Nepalnews.com

Though there was less impact of today's bandh enforced by Federal Democratic Alliance which includes Upendra Yadav-led Madhesi Janadhikar Forum and few other Madhesi fringe parties, main marketplaces still remained closed while very few vehicles are seen on the roads in Kathmandu.

Long route buses and cargo trucks remain off the highways. Schools and colleges and private business are closed in the Kathmandu Valley and other major towns across the country.

While there were no reports of violence the bandh organisers attacked some vehicles including a van carrying medical oxygen at Thapathali, Kathmandu. nepalnews.com
