UCPN (M), UML leaders meet to narrow differences

Leaders of the ruling Maoist party and the CPN-UML met in the Capital on Saturday morning to narrow down the two party's differences over a package deal to form Chief Justice-led government.

The meeting, which took place at UCPN (M) chief Pushpa Kamal Dahal's residence in Lazimpat, saw leaders discuss the possibility of reaching an agreement on the formation of a truth commission to probe into war-time cases of rights abuse, and the updating of voters' list for the upcoming election, an aide to Dahal said.

The meeting comes as UCPN(M) leaders have been alleging that the much anticipated package deal could not be signed due to various preconditions set by the opposition, especially the UML.

It has already been more than a month since major political parties started discussing the proposal to form an election government under CJ Regmi. The Chief Justice himself has said he has taken the proposal positively. However, major parties, whose top leaders have agreed on the proposal, are yet to agree on anything else. nepalnews, com
