Walk for Nepal awards three youth innovation projects $8400
Nepal koYuwa (NKY) and Association of Youth Organizations Nepal (AYON) have procided $ 8,400 to three youth innovation projects through Walk for Nepal Youth Innovation Fund (WfNYIF) on Saturday.
The winners include Handwashing Campaign (Nawalparasi), Herald Group (US$4,200); Green Gifts (Lalitpur) Yatra (US$2,520) and AIDS/Safe Sex Education (Kathmandu) United Youth for World Peace (US$1,680).
Through a combination of jury evaluation and online voting, the three projects were selected for the award based on innovation, impact, sustainability and team capacity, said NKY in a press statement.
Similarly, AYON will monitor and evaluate progress of the projects.
These awards were made possible due to money raised from Walk for Nepal (WfN) events organised in Boston, Dallas and New York on 22 September, 20 October and 10 December 2012, respectively.
A total of $33,086 was raised through the walkathon events in three cities. From this amount, US$8,400 was set aside for WfNYIF to fund projects in Nepal, informed NKY. Nepalnews.com
