Four party leaders sweating over draft of consensus
Leaders of the four major parties are engaged in a marathon discussion in an attempt to finalise the draft of political consensus on formation of an election government headed by Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi.
The meeting top leaders in which the members of the four-party taskforce are also participating is going on at the office of the secretariat of the Army Integration Special Committee at Naya Baneshwor from 8 am. The leaders are trying to give final shape to the draft to make it acceptable to the Chief Justice.
A "draft of consensus" was forwarded to the President on Wednesday, but the parties are to revise it so address the reservations of the Chief Justice, particularly on the provision of a political mechanism to advise his government.
Regmi is also said to be unhappy with the provision in the earlier draft that the head of the government will resign within 15 days if he fails to conduct the polls in the stipulated date. nepalnews.com
