Bhattarai, who was preparing to shift to the Sanepa house days earlier, left official residence in Baluwatar exactly after 18 months and 18 in power. He became the country's 35th Prime Minister on August 29, 2011.
"He officially checked-out of Baluwatar and has shifted to his personal residence in Sanepa," one of his aides confirmed.
Bhattarai, who made headlines when he chose Nepal-assembled Mustang jeep as his official vehicle, used a Scorpio jeep to travel to his rented house. He had been using the same India-made Scorpio before he was elected Prime Minister.
Soon after leaving Baluwatar, he tweeted, "Now I am a free citizen. Thank you everybody who have stood with me during the last 18 months & 18 days." nepalnews.com
