Nepal Int’l Trade Fair draws massive crowd

The second edition of Nepal International Trade Fair concluded Wednesday, attracting around 225,000 visitors during the six-day event held at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu.

The fair was a success as it is proved to be the milestone to boost the trade relations and cooperation between the participating South Asian countries, Nepali entrepreneurs among others, the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI), which organised the event, said.

The B2B meetings focusing especially on products identified by the Nepal Trade Integration Strategy (NTIS) during the event also remained fruitful, said the participating entrepreneurs. The event saw a transaction of Rs 150 million -- more than the target.

India, Bangladesh, China, Pakistan among others have already booked around 100 stalls for the next year's Nepal International Trade Fair scheduled for March 6 to 10, 2014, FNCCI informed.

Following increase in the volume of the visitors as well as the demand of the exhibitors, the trade fair was extended by one more day. The fair was supposed to end on Tuesday.

The fair showcased around 350 stalls including the participation of international entrepreneurs from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and America beside Nepal. Nepal had 250 stalls while India 40, Bangladesh 50, Pakistan 8 and America 10 stalls, according to the federation.

FNCCI organised the event in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry along with the Federation of Handicraft Association Nepal (FHAN). The fair is a major annual event of FNCCI. nepalnews.com
