The Federal Democratic Alliance led by Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal (MJF-N) chairman Upendra Yadav Friday raised objection to the slashing of the promotional seats in the would-be Constituent Assembly.
Organising a press conference in the capital, Yadav said the four-party decision to reduce the proportional seats is unjustifiable, warning that the alliance will be forced to take to the streets if the seats are not increased.
As part of their 11-point agreement, the four major parties on Wednesday agreed on a 491-member CA in which 240 member will be elected directly and the same number of members will be elected under the proportional system while 11 members will be nominated by the cabinet.
In the previous 601-member CA, there were 335 members elected' under the proportional system while 240 were elected directly and 26 nominated by the cabinet based on political consensus. Nepalnews.com |
