Fringe parties continue protest against CJ-led govt

Twenty two smaller political parties along with the Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Maoist continued their protest against the formation of the interim election government headed by Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi in the capital on Saturday.

Leaders and cadres of the agitating parties assembled at Shantibatika, Ratna Park, and burned the effigies of President Ram Baran Yadav, Regmi and the top leaders of the four major parties that reached the agreement to install government headed by the CJ on Wednesday.

The protesters also clashed with the police. Vehicular traffic in and around Ratna Park remained obstructed for some time due to the agitation.

On Friday, the agitating fringe parties had burnt the copies of the 11-point agreement signed by the four parties - UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and Madhesi Front. Nepalnews.com
