NRNs demand voting rights
The Non-resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has demanded that the new government make arrangements to give voting rights to Nepali citizens living abroad.
The NRNA is hopeful that hundreds of thousands of Nepalis living abroad will get a chance to participate in the upcoming elections, association's chairman Jiba Lamichhane said in a statement.
However, the members of the four-party taskforce that drafted the 11-point agreement had earlier made it clear that it would be simply impossible to give voting rights to migrant Nepalis due to lack of resources.
Meanwhile, the NRNA has welcomed the formation of the new government, expressing hope that the Chief Justice-led government would be able to hold free and fair elections within the stipulated time by bringing all sides into confidence. nepalnews.com
