Eight Lt Cols move court against 'fast-track' promotion system in Nepal Army

Eight lieutenant colonels of Nepal Army (NA) have moved the apex court against the newly introduced promotion procedure to fill vacant post of colonel in the force.

The newly set-up 'fast-track promotions' committee had recommmended sixteen names for promotion.

The eight army officers, including Lt Col Sampat Kumar Aryal, have said that the system is against the prevailing laws as it allows NA to promote junior officials at the expense of senior ones.

Earlier, the army men had filed a complaint against the fast-track promotion system at the Nepal Army secretariat claiming that the system was unfair. nepalnews.com
