Finance Ministry Under-secy dies in freak accident

An Under-secretary at the Ministry of Finance died in a freak accident in Kathmandu, on Tuesday police said.

Gyan Raj Shrestha (55) of Purano Baneshwor, was rendered unconscious after his head hit a window pane on board a tempo. The incident took place at around 10 am has Shrestha was headed home from Gyaneshwor, officials said.

He was rushed to Ratopul-based Wellcare Hospital immediately after the incident. When his kin arrived at the hospital, the bureaucrat was sent to Norvic Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have detained tempo driver Ashok Tamang (30) following the incident. Nepalnews.com
