Dutt, who has already served 18 months in prison during the lengthy trail, will now have to serve the remaining three and a half years in jail. Earlier, he was handed down six-year jail sentence but the apex court reduced it by one year in the final verdict.
The court has asked Sanjay Dutt to surrender within four weeks. While delivering its verdict, the apex court said that the minimum sentence under the Arms Act is five years and that it cannot go under this under any circumstance.
Soon after the judgement was delivered, Priya Dutt, Sanjay’s sister, broke down in the court.
