Student unions enforce 'chakkajam' against Karki's selection as CIAA chief
Eleven different student organisations obstructed vehicular movement in front of government colleges across the country on Thursday to protest the four-party mechanism's recommendation to appoint Lok Man Singh Karki as the chief of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
In Kathmandu, the students gathered in front of government colleges like Tri-Chandra, Ratna Rajya, Nepal Law Campus, Shankar Dev and Saraswoti and blocked the traffic for over an hour. They carried out similar protest in several campuses in Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and outside the valley.
The high-level political committee headed by UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has recommended former chief secretary Karki to head the anti-graft body. Karki is accused of misusing state mechanism to suppress the people's movement-II. Nepalnews.com
