Nepal wins 23 golds in SA Karate Championship
Nepal has made historical achievement after winning additional 13 gold medals in the South Asian Karate Championship held in Thimphu, Bhutan on Monday.
Nepal has claimed 10 golds on Sunday and won additional 13 gold medals on Monday.
On the last day of the championship, Sang Tshering Lama won two gold medals in women´s 45 kg weight category and the individual kata event in cadet section.
In the individual senior men´s kata section, Parshuram Bastola claimed gold and Chanchala Danuwar won gold medal women's section.
Similarly, Ganesh Bahadur Thing, Kedar Simkhada and Monday Kaji Shrestha won gold in team kata in men's section while Subhadra Shrestha, Sangita Dangol and Suman Lama won in women's section.
Likewise, Milan Nepali (60 kg), Lekhnath Mainali (75 kg), Bishnu Shrestha (55 kg) and Digambar Prasad Pant (above 84 kg) clinched gold medals in kumite event. Nepali men's kumite team also won gold while Nirmala Rai clinched the women´s 75 kg in the wimen's section.
Altogether four nations including Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka participated in the tournament. Nepalnews.com
