New national records in Nat’l Open Athletics selection
Armed Police Force (APF) Dil Maya Karki and Seema Kumari Chaudhary have set national records on women’s 400m and women’s javelin throw respectively during the National Open Athletics Selection Meet at the Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar on Monday.
Karki set new national record in women’s 400m clocking 58.8 seconds breaking the record of Pramila Rijal 59.2 seconds.
Nepal Army's Durga Devkota and Nepal Police Club's Mana Mati Bista finished second and third spot with the timing of 60.1 seconds and 61.2 seconds respectively.
Meanwhile, Chaudhary broke the national record of Sita Shahi of Army by throwing 37.78m. The previous record was 35.59m. Shahi finished second by throwing 32.89m and Anju Daura of Army won bronze by throwing 31.41m in women’s javelin.
Army’s Hari Kumar Rimal and Raj Kumar Bista secured first and second spots in the men’s 10,000m race. Rijal completed the race in 32 minutes 6.8 seconds and Bista took 32 minutes 6.9 seconds while Kiran Kumar Bista of APF finished third with the timing of 32 minutes 17.1 seconds.
Tilak Ram Tharu of Police clinched gold in the men’s 400m race by finishing the race in 50 seconds while Dashi Ram Chaudhary of Army took 50.4 seconds to finished second and Hari Lal Chaudhary finished third with the timing of 53.1 seconds.
In the men's long jump event, Dilli Khatri of Army clinched gold by jumping 6.95m. Chabi Lal Chaudhary and Ashish Chaudhary of Laliptur won second and third spots respectively.
In the women's section, Keshari Chaudhary won gold jumping 5.32m while Krishna Chaudhary of Army and Shila Chaudhary of APF finished second and third respectively.
Police's Dhirendra Chaudhary won the men’s 110m hurdles clocking 15.7 seconds while Bishesh Mahato and Yogendra Lama of Army finished second and third. Similarly, Keshari Chaudhary of Police won the women’s 100m with the timing 16.9 seconds while APF's Sabita Chaudhary and Shantu Chaudhary were the runner-ups.
In men’s shot put, Army's Rajendra Basnet, Bahadur Gurung and Narendra Jung Shah dominated the event. Similarly, Army's Anju Dagaura clinched the first place while Basanti Chaudhary and Nista Shahi of Police finished second and third.
In men's javelin throw, Dhirendra Jung Shah of Army won gold by throwing threw 55.1m. Narendra Jung Shah of Police and Ishwar Shrestha of APF won silver and bronze medals. Nepalnews.com
