Nepali U-19 Nat’l team off to Qatar for AFC U-19 Qualifiers Group A
Nepali U-19 National Team on Tuesday left for Qatar to participate in the AFC U-19 Qualifiers that is scheduled to kick off from October 4 to 12, 2013 in Doha.

Altogether 18 players under the captainship of Sulav Maskey and five officials including team manager Rajendra Neupane, head coach Raju Kaji Shakya, coach Kishor Kumar KC, doctor Ninamra Bista and official Satrughan Raj Bhandari are in the team.
All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) bade farewell to the team wishing best of luck in the tournament amid a function at Dasharath Stadium Tuesday afternoon.
Similarly, Nepal Youth and Sports Ministry secretary Hari Prasad Nepal, Nepal Sports Council member-secretary Yubaraj Lama and ANFA president Ganesh Thapa jointly handed over a Nepali national flag to the team.
On the occasion, Lama wished best to the team for the tournament. “The tournament is a challenge and opportunity for the U-19 team,” said Lama.
“It is a challenge for Nepal among the competitive teams and opportunity to give good performance as that will improve them to the senior team,” he added.
Likewise, ANFA president Thapa said the team should play for the nation. “We cannot compromise any players who cannot play 90 minutes. If anyone who is representing the country should give its best.”
“I don’t know about the clubs how they play but as you are in the national team you should put your effort in whole 90 minutes,” he added. “Give your best don’t think about the result.”
Meanwhile, team’s coach Raju Kaji Shakya said the team will try to give its best performance to qualify for the next round though it is difficult among the competitive teams.
This is a good opportunity for the players to prove that they deserve in the national team, said Shakya.
Nepal is drawn alongside India, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and host Qatar in Group A.
The group winners of the nine groups alongside with six best-placed sides and hosts Myanmar will advance to the final of the tournament.
Qatar, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Palestine, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand and China are hosting the qualifiers involving 40 countries across the continent. nepalnews.com/Rajin Rai
