UML finalizes candidates under FPTP system
The CPN-UML has finalized its candidates under the First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) or direct system targeting the second Constituent Assembly polls on November 19 this year, said a statement on Tuesday.
According to Bishnu Poudel, the party's secretary, UML chairman Jhalanath Khanal will contest the polls from Ilam-1 and Sarlahi-1, while senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal will contest from Rautahat-1 and Kathmandu-2.
Likewise, vice chairman Bam Dev Gautam will contest from Bardiya-1 and Pyuthan-1, while senior leader KP Oli has opted to contest only from Jhapa-7.
Similarly, former speaker Subash Nembang is contesting from Ilam-2, party general secretary Ishwor Pokhrel from Kathmandu-5 and secretary Shankar Pokhrel from Dang-4.
Famous Nepali film actor Bhuwan KC is also contesting the polls on UML ticket from Kathmandu-1.
Meanwhile, Nepali Congress has finalized the list of candidates for Kathmandu district.
They include: party general secretary Prakash Man Singh (Constituency 1), Pratima Gautam (2), Chakra Thakuri (3), Gagan Thapa (4), Narahari Acharya (5), Bhimsen Das Pradhan (6), Pramila Singh Dangol (7), Nabindra Raj Joshi (8), Govinda Ranjit (9) and Rajan KC (10). Nepalnews.com
