Police make public gang members involved in abusive drugs trade
Police on Sunday made public the members of a big gang involved in the trade of abusive drugs for the past several years.
Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu, police said the culprits were involved in the illegal trade since 2003. They have been identified as Birendra Kumar Chhetri and his brother Dhirendra Kumar of Birgunj, Narayan Shrestha of Dang and Chameli Karki of Thankot, Kathmandu.
Similarly, Sarita Budha of Rukum and Puja Nepali of Dang have also been detained as the helping hands. Among them, Birendra was the mastermind behind the illegal trade. Birendra is a past convict, as he has already been sent to jail for two years on charges of abusive drugs trade.
Birendra's trade occupied 65 percent share of Kathmandu's total illegal drugs trade, according to police. Just like Birendra, Chameli Karki has already served a jail term of 18 months for an involvement in the illegal drugs trade.
Among the arrested ones, Narayan Shrestha has been identified as the key dealer of abusive drugs in Kathmandu valley. Police seized heroine, hashish and tablets from all of them. Nepalnews.com
