Bird flu affected poultry farmers meet IEC Chairman Regmi
The bird flu affected poultry farmers Sunday called on Interim Election Council (IEC) Chairman Khil Raj Regmi at the latter's office at Singha Durbar and apprised him of their crisis-ridden business.
The poultry farmers demanded that Bhaktapur district be withdrawn as an emergency-hit district declared by the government after series of bird flu outbreaks a few weeks ago.
The poultry farmers said it is imperative that they get due compensation from the government for all the culling, so that they can revive their business again. IEC Chairman Regmi, in return, suggested the farmers to coordinate with the Department of Livestock Services in this regard.
Following a number of bird flu outbreaks since July 16, Bhaktapur has been hit the hardest as compared to Kathmandu and Lalitpur districts of the capital valley. Nepalnews.com
