CIAA arrests NEA director Chauhan, nine more high-level officials
In its continued bid against corruption, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Sunday arrested Arjun Kumar Chauhan, the director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), along with nine other officials, on charges of purchasing low quality transformers.
The other officers and engineers detained on the same charges included Sishil Bam Thapa, Mahesh Kumar Karki, Yugal Kishor Shah, Hari Bahadur Gasi, Nimesh Kumar Pokhrel, Binod Kumar Swornakar, Manoj Baral, Ram Bijul Mandal and Suraj Prasad Shah.
All the 10 arrested will be prosecuted at the court of law as per the law, according to CIAA sources.
The CIAA has already arrested NEA executive director Rameshor Yadav along with 22 more officials on the same charges of purchasing low quality transformers from a Chinese firm. Agents of the firm have also been taken into custody.
Yadav and all those arrested with him are now facing corruption charges at the Special Court. Nepalnews.com
