Individuals demand investment withdrawal from Basnet's company
Individuals, who themselves claimed as the victims of various companies operated by Sudhir Basnet, have urged the government to properly investigate and return their investment amounts to them.
Speaking at a press conference in the capital Monday, they claimed that Banset has collected more than Rs 7 billion from them and has invested in housing sector. They demanded return of their investments saying that they have been cheated.
Basnet, chief of Oriental Housing and Oriental Cooperative, was arrested in January following complaints filed by individuals, as he failed to provide apartments to individuals as promised. Basnet has already been released on bail.
“It is the state’s duty to address the issues raised by victims by bringing back their enmeshed money from Basnet,” said Prakash Shrestha, leader of the Victims Struggle Committee.
The individuals have already presented a memorandum to the Chairman of Interim Election Council, Khil Raj Regmi demanding formation of a high level committee to investigate the matter thoroughly. nepalnews.com
