Thousands of fans are mourning the death of legendary singer Phatteman Rajbhandari, who passed away on Monday midnight. He was diagnosed with lung cancer only a week ago.
Fatteman, 77, was pronounced dead at 12:30 am this morning in the ICU of Chabahil-based OM Hospital in the capital. He was shifted to ICU on Sunday after his health condition became critical.
Doctors at the hospital had earlier said there was difficulty in treating Rajbhandari as he was suffering from a number of age-related complications.
An accomplished classical singer and senior musician who is considered to be a master craftsman, Phatteman has lent his voice to and composed music for more than 400 Nepali songs. Phatteman is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter.
His body will be kept at the premises of the Home for the Elderly at Pashupati from 10 am today so that his fans can pay their last respects. Nepalnews.com
