Girl commits suicide after failing SLC supplementary exams
A girl from Galkot of Banglung district committed suicide after failing to pass the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) supplementary examinations.
Manju Panta, 20, a student from Galkot Higher Secondary School, Galkot, hung herself from the ceiling of her room on Monday, according to District Police Office, Banglung.
Reports said that she had failed in mathematics and science subjects in the SLC regular examination. She sat for SLC supplementary exams (meant for students who fail in one or two subjects in SLC exams) conducted from 4 to 11 August, but her symbol number did not appear in the result sheet, which meant that she had failed the exams again. Soon after she took her own life.
Police said that they are investigating the case and have sent the body for postmortem.
The Office of the Controller (OCE) of Examinations, Sanothimi, published the results of SLC supplementary examination for the academic year 2069 on Monday. The pass percentage of this year’s supplementary examination is 60.1 percent.
