UCPN (M) nominates 12 journalists for CA proportional seats after picking journo-murderer to contest polls
UCPN (Maoist) has nominated 12 journalists close to the party as candidates for proportional seats in the new Constituent Assembly (CA).
A meeting of the Bureau of Information and Communication of UCPN (M) party has recommended journalists Govinda Acharya, Damodar Timalsina, Om Sharma, Khil Bahadur Bhandari, Sachin Rokka, Bishnu Sapkota and Manrishi Dhital – all members of UCPN (M) aligned Revolutionary Journalists’ Association – for proportional seats from various districts.
Similarly, media-persons Sangita Shrestha, Arun Rayamajhi, Balaram Thapa, Chandraman Shrestha and Kalpana Bisural have also been recommended by the party for proportional seats.
However, in what would be termed as very contradictory move, UCPN (Maoist) has already nominated a notorious party cadre who is absconding since two years after murdering Bara-based journalist Birendra Sah to contest in the upcoming Constituent Assembly election under direct or first-past-the-post (fptp) system.
Prior to this, CPN (UML) has already nominated journalists Shambhu Shrestha, Surya Thapa, Gokul Baskota, Gagan Bista, Rajendra Aryal and Kaushal Chemjong for party's proportional seats while Nepali Congress has nominated Taranath Dahal, Harihar Dahal, Dharmendra Jha, Rishi Dhamala, Navaraj Lamsal for the party's proportional seats from various districts.
